Testimonial - Allison Bouren

I am a teacher at Heights Middle School. My leadership students participated in an art session with Mrs. Clugston that was truly powerful. Students were able to create art that individually expressed themselves while simultaneously creating a class project that demonstrated and visualized what effective leadership encompasses. Students were able to build connections on the importance of each individual to an entire class and school. As a leadership teacher, this project not only challenged my students to think more critically about their personal role in school leadership but allowed them to express themselves in a way that highlighted their unique individuality. Mrs. Clugston was relatable and authentic with students and engaged them in such a way that this was not simply an art class, but an impactful environment that has and will affect positive change within students and our school for years to come. I am hopeful that we will be able to continue to work with Mrs. Clugston to bring this much needed social emotional learning to our students! I am a strong believer in the need for more opportunities for students to engage in a creative, safe, and life changing environment that not only matter now, but continue to build a student for future success, this is one of those opportunities.
